For Focus & Memory

Huperzine-A (Selagine)

First discovered in China and derived from Chinese club moss, Huperzine-A is a powerful nootropic that boosts cognition, alertness and energy levels. It has been proven to instantly enhance memory while maintaining long-term neuroprotective effects, and is currently being used as an alternative treatment and preventative for memory loss.

Huperzine-A is a highly purified, medicinally active alkaloid. As an NMDA-antagonist, it reduces glutamate levels in the brain, which lowers inflammation and protects against cell death. Huperzine-A is also an acetylcholinesterase-inhibitor (AcH-inhibitor), which increases acetylcholine concentrations to support focus and learning capacity.

Brain Doctor Water—which contains over 7 mg of Huperine-A per shot— boosts acetylcholine retention and further prevents memory loss by breaking the neurofibrillary “tangles” responsible for premature nerve cell death. Early intervention with AcH-inhibitors like Huperzine-A may even slow or halt the progression of Alzheimer’s disease, while drastically minimizing the incidence of side effects experienced with prescription drugs. In fact, studies have confirmed that patients suffering from dementia demonstrated major cognitive and behavioral improvements following treatment with Huperzine-A.

Finally, Huperzine-A has been confirmed to increase memory retention and learning capacity in healthy brains by enhancing alertness and concentration. In placebo-controlled clinical trials, middle-school children complaining of poor focus exhibited noticeable improvements in learning and memory quotient scores after taking Huperzine-A for 4 weeks.

Resveratrol

Resveratrol is a naturally-occurring antioxidant compound found in foods such as grape skins, berries, and chocolate, and certain plants that promotes longevity by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress in the body. Commonly consumed in wine, resveratrol has recently received major attention for its effect on cardiovascular health. It has been shown to improve heart functions by significantly increasing blood flow to major arteries, which lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, fights atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and prevents clotting—a common cause of heart attacks.

Resveratrol has the added benefits of preventing insulin resistance (a precursor to diabetes), limiting the spread of cancer cells, and promoting muscle health. It is particularly useful for providing cellular support that improves cognitive functions and protecting nerve cells from damage and plaque buildup, which can seriously affect the brain’s ability to function optimally. About Vitamins & Antioxidants

Free radicals and trace elements damage cell DNA, which contributes to aging and a number of health conditions such as heart disease, cancer, and brain atrophy. The American Academy of Neurology (or AAN) recommends antioxidant supplements for treating and preventing these issues, particularly to patients suffering from memory loss. Because they decrease inflammation and oxidative damage to brain cells, antioxidants are critical for combating neurodegenerative conditions and brain atrophy.

In healthy brains, antioxidants improve cognition by protecting mitochondrial functions and slowing the rate at which nerve cells age. With this in mind, Brain Doctor Water was developed to include a potent blend of antioxidant vitamins alongside powerful nootropics (or “brain boosters”)!

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)

Brain Doctor Water contains 100% of the daily recommended intake of Vitamin B2, or riboflavin, which has strong antioxidant properties. Riboflavin is critical for maintaining skin, hair, eye, liver ,and especially brain health, and is important for growth and red blood cell production. Riboflavin deficiency may cause fatigue, digestive issues, stunted growth, mouth sores, tired eyes, sore throat and light sensitivity.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)

Vitamin B6, or pyridoxine, is necessary for maintaining normal brain function and aids in the production of neurotransmitters such as serotonin (which influences mood) and norepinephrine (which regulates sleep). Vitamin B6 also makes red blood cells and immune system cells while protecting eye health and lowering homocysteine levels in the blood—which decreases one’s chances of developing heart disease later in life. Low levels of vitamin B6 may lead to memory loss, difficulty concentrating, nervousness, irritability, depression, and muscle weakness.

Vitamin B12 (Cobolamin)

Vitamin B12—also known as cobolamin—has a variety of functions. It plays a role in creating DNA and RNA, lowers homocysteine levels in the blood, and works with folic acid to produce red blood cells and s-adenosylmethionine (SAM-e), which affects both immune function and mood. B12 is also critical for maintaining nervous system health. Low levels of this vitamin can cause fatigue, shortness of breath, diarrhea, nervousness, nerve damage, and numbness and tingling of the extremities.

Folic Acid / Folate (Vitamin B9)

Folic acid, which modulates cognition and emotion, is critical for normal brain functioning. When combined with vitamins B6 and B12 it produces red blood cells, processes iron in the body, lowers the risk of heart disease, maintains eye and ear health, and protects against certain types of cancer. Folate deficiencies can cause irritability, memory loss, trouble concentrating, loss of appetite, shortness of breath, gingivitis and diarrhea.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant with multiple functions. It can help prevent and treat memory loss, lower the risk of developing heart disease and cancer, and control blood sugar and lower cholesterol in people with Type 2 diabetes. It is also known to reduce pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis and promote clearer vision by protecting against macular degeneration, a leading cause of blindness in the United States. Vitamin E deficiency may lead to liver and kidney problems, muscle weakness, vision problems and loss of balance.
